Having a pub on the lake, and in such a beautiful part of the world, makes for a natural partnership with a fishing club, according to Warners Bay Hotel operator Andrew Davis.

The relationship between the hotel and Charlestown Anglers Fishing Club (CAFC) began only this year, but the two have already joined forces to raise money for children's charity Camp Quality.

The 2018 Bream Bash, to be held on Lake Macquarie, Sunday 20 May is a catch and release contest open to CAFC members of all ages, hotel patrons, and members of Warner Bay Hotel Lucky Locals.

"The Bream Bash came about as a way to make a donation to a worthy cause being Camp Quality," Andrew said.

"The committee of CAFC decided in the early days that all proceeds would be donated to this very worthy organisation. The event will also be a great way for people to meet like-minded anglers at the after barbecue and small fundraiser that will be held at the hotel at 3pm."

The event is open to all age groups and CAFC will be offering both Junior and Senior prize packs for “Biggest Bream”.

"Just make sure you don’t bring your catch to the hotel as it’s a photo comp only," Andrew said.

"We like to do our bit to also promote sustainable fishing."
