A new bar that encapsulates the old-world
charm of grand hotels, but was named via social
media has opened at Toronto.
The Cuban inspired, Mulberry Tapas and Lounge resides on the second floor of Toronto Hotel and overlooks spectacular Lake Macquarie.
The space features trees, cane chairs, chesterfield lounges and a grand lace lined veranda that wraps around the beautiful old pub.
“We felt the space was under-utilised and outdated as a function space,” he said.
“It was definitely time to up the anti and bring a new small bar to Toronto.”
Deciding on a name for the bar at first proved difficult as it had to be something that incorporated the rich history of both the venue and surrounding area.
“After a period of time we chose five names and it went to a Facebook vote, with The Mulberry winning by a mile.
“The relevance being that during the 1830's a dairy farm and an orchard surrounded the hotel and Mulberry trees grew so large that the area became known as Mulberry Hill.”
The Mulberry’s Tapas Menu has been designed by the Hotel Chefs, Kristy Neesom and Matt Walkom and boasts some delectable items.
“It’s hard to choose there are so many great items on our menu,” Mr Bortoli said.
“It’s just become an amazing space overall. You can grab a cocktail, a Cuban Rum, and even a Cuban Cigar - sit back, relax and enjoy everything we have to offer.”
The Mulberry Tapas and Lounge is located on the upper level of Toronto Hotel, 74 Victory Parade Toronto.
