Sydney Junction Hotel combines pub heritage with modern dining culture

Pub food has come a long way since the good old counter meal, and that has never been more apparent than when you look at the dining options available at the Sydney Junction Hotel, Hamilton.

Cleverly put together, the menu offers a strong selection of dishes that combine traditional pub fair with the contemporary idea of a shared dining experience.

Signature dishes like Confit Duck Maryland - a soft and succulent duck leg served on a bed of glass noodles, bok choy, fried shallots, chilli and coriander with mouth-watering red curry broth, along with Beef Cheek, Lamb Shoulder, Seven Spiced Squid Salad and Braised Short Rib Burger with kimchi, sweet sausage, sliced pickles and sesame on a milk bun, are just some of the high-end options available on this menu.

But, that doesn't mean your hankering for a good old chicken schnitzel cannot be fullfilled at SJs. All your favourites, standard pub grub if you like, are still included - they just taste better!

Ask about the strategy of the menu and the operators of SJs are adamant that it must reflect pub heritage, while also incorporating modern dining culture. That means share plates, delectable cuisine, gourmet burgers, affordability, flavour and style - all in one place.

In fact, head chef Kylie Foster brings a wealth of experience to the plate, having worked at a number of venues across Newcastle and throughout the Hunter, where she developed her skills and appreciation for food.

Inspired by Marco Pia White and his aim for perfection, Kylie brings the same attitude to everything she does at the Sydney Junction Hotel with 'lots of love thrown into food, lots of passion’ and the ‘perfect seasoning’ to create ‘a fantastic happy meal on a plate'.

Overall, what makes SJs menu so great is that at its essence, it is food still served at your local pub.

You can relax and feel at home as you settle in for a few drinks with friends and family - a sentiment that is definately reflected in the food and its home-cooked style.
