There’s certainly no better place to stay than a NSW country pub – and the AHA NSW has welcomed Airbnb’s new initiative which will see $250,000 in grants go to bush hotels.
Airbnb’s new Country Pubs Project offers five regional pubs $50,000 each for rejuvenation through a special grants process.
Australian Hotels Association NSW CEO John Whelan said the Association welcomed the move which will promote and help regional hotels.
“Country hotels in many areas are doing it tough with the drought and rising costs,” he said.
“There is no doubt they are the heart and soul of their communities and we applaud Airbnb’s recognition that the best place to start experiencing regional NSW is down at the local hotel.
“This is a welcome initiative from one of the world’s largest and most successful marketing channels.
“It reinforces the fact that if you’re looking for a genuine experience of country NSW, the best place to start is over a meal, a beer and a chat with locals at a country pub.”
“There is no doubt they are the heart and soul of their communities and we applaud Airbnb’s recognition that the best place to start experiencing regional NSW is down at the local hotel..."
Mr Whelan also congratulated NSW Tourism Minister Stuart Ayres for his role in promoting this initiative to revitalize country pubs.
Applications for the Airbnb pub grants run from Sunday, June 16 to Friday, 12 July 2019. More information is available at Airbnb.com/countrypubproject.
