She's the Popcorn chicken who became a star when Channel Seven approached Bull & Bush Hotel Medowie's Bistro Manager Julia Davies looking for a chook to star in the 2020
Farmer Wants A Wife promo.
While the promo, now airing on Channel Seven marks Popcorn's television debut, the little hen is no stranger to the spotlight with Julia's hobby farm JD's Backyard Hens hosting regular community workshops at events like Tocal Field Day and posting videos online.
"This is my second time helping to run the Bistro at Bull n' Bush Hotel Medowie and I've been here now for the past seven years or so," Julia said.
"The Bull n' Bush is more than just a pub, this place is like everyone's local lounge room. They come in and we know what all the locals like, we make their dinner to suit them and it's one big family.
"When you are part of a venue like that word spreads and it was really word of mouth, along with all the other things she does and videos online, that has made Popcorn so popular. Then we got the call from Channel Seven."
Although the show's producers had their heart set on a white chicken, when they drove up from Sydney to meet her, the little brown and white bird won their hearts and was immediately given the role.

"Popcorn was the perfect chicken because she's already trained for what we do at community workshops teaching people how to care for, and breed hens.
"The production team and crew filmed most of the promo locally at a site in Seaham, and we did most of Popcorn's scenes in and around Medowie," Julia said.
"The crew also stayed at the pub's accommodation and had their meals here as well."
Popcorn, along with a host of female patrons and local women dressed as brides, can be seen in the Farmer Wants A Wife promo playing now on Channel Seven.
