Kicking off at 4pm this Sunday, 11 March the Stag and Hunter Hotel will showcase Golden Guitar winner Matt Scullion as he launches his new album I'm Just a Song, along with a host of other talent, to raise money for our country neighbours doing it tough in drought-stricken areas.
100 per cent of all money raised at the event will be donated to Rural Aid to assist in the purchase of hay for farmers impacted by drought conditions.
Stag Hotel owner Mick Starkey said there were a number of reasons he decided to put on the show to lend a helping hand.
“Those reasons include the fact that farmers are largely forgotten in the city, while we deal with seemingly trivial problems of varying degrees,” he said.
“I have a great mate who has just completely de-stocked his family’s large property in Scone for the first time in four generations, putting huge financial pressures on them to retain the land and he’s not the only one experiencing those kinds of difficulties.”
The line-up for the event includes The Matt Scullian Band, Magpie Diaries, Kristy James, Amy Vee, Suz Dorahy and Finnian Johnson.
Mr Starkey said the aim of the event was to raise around $5,000 for the cause, which would provide a semi-trailer load of hay for farmers in need.
Tickets are $15 at the door, or $10 + booking fee online at Oztix.com.au
