Hamilton Station Hotel's Spencer Scott a finalist for VB Hard Yards

If you love live music and frequent the Hamilton Station Hotel, you will be familiar with the venue's entertainment manager and musician in his own right, Spencer Scott.

In a coup for the hotel's dedicated booking agent, Spencer and his band Paper Thin have been short-listed in the VB Hard Yards national band competition.

One of only three NSW finalists, and the only act hailing from the Hunter, Paper Thin now hope to receive enough votes to be crowned state winner of the 2018 competition.

"We are one of three finalists in NSW and it's up to a public vote to decide a winner," Spencer said.

"Votes close at midnight tomorrow, Tuesday, 31 July. It takes only a moment of your time to vote and it will help us massively.

"Winning Hard Yards means we get to go on tour and play four seriously massive shows. It's also going to help us record and release our debut album."

Paper Thin had their first jam only two years ago, but they’ve certainly squeezed in a lot since then.

Two EPs later, a few festival line-ups (Poison City Weekender and Thrashville) band members Spencer, Aidan, Liam and William have won the hearts of the DIY scene all while sticking to their day jobs.

Each VB Hard Yards winner for their state will receive $5,000, pre-paid rehearsal room hire, and a four-gig tour along Australia's east coast including a show at The Cambridge Hotel on Friday, October 5.
