After two decades cooking at country pubs and restaurants including those located at Gunnedah, Branxton and Tamworth, Chef Sammy Eveleigh has taken over the kitchen at Tattersalls Hotel Greta, effective immediately.
"For a long time, this hotel hasn't had a traditional pub menu and the idea of doing that kind of food, but really well, and for the locals, is what interested me," he said.

Bringing his signature mix of classic pub fare and dishes he has created himself, Sammy believes taking on the restaurant at his 'local' is the right move going forward.
"I knew the hotel publican Mick Finch through playing darts here, and living at Branxton, I've been a local myself for a while," he said.
"Cooking for my own local community makes this new endeavour even more special."

Sammy dished up his first meals at Tattersalls Hotel lunch service on Wednesday, 7 March with a menu that included some of his signature dishes including the Sammy Salad, a mix of baby spinach, roast pumpkin, bacon and cashew honey mustard dressing with chicken tenderloins and prawns.
The new menu also includes dishes like hand-crumbed chicken schnitzel, creamy chilli garlic prawns with linguine, and salt and pepper duo with prawns, squid and balsamic vinegar. There is also the usual pub classics like steak and burgers.
The restaurant will be open from Wednesday to Sunday with lunch service from 12pm - 2pm and dinner from 6pm - 8.30pm.
